"The students who go on course discover how to connect with one another, create traditions around meals and are encouraged to reach new heights. They then bring those skills back to camp and ultimately, back home. The older students return with confidence, ready to be role models for the next generation of campers. We are excited to see our partnership with Outward Bound grow."
- Eric N,Witherbee Wilderness Program Director
"Our students returned from their (Outward Bound California) experiences more confident, more centered and more focused on their futures. Not only did they learn rock climbing and an appreciation for camping and nature, they learned self-confidence, leadership and team work skills…The most heart-warming is the students plan to go camping and hiking again. Outward Bound sparked a passion that will continue with our students throughout their lives."
- Vonda V, Principal of Black Rock High School
Partner Schools
Outward Bound California believes that a collaborative spirit on and off course is the best way to see a well-rounded community thrive.
Through Outward Bound California’s bases in the High Sierras, Joshua Tree and San Francisco Bay Area, students can embark on a multi-week wilderness backpacking trip, gain deeper cultural understanding on an Urban Expedition, build community through a one-day rock climbing course and much more! We are committed to serving low-income, traditionally excluded populations and effective community partnerships, giving two in three of our students a full or partial scholarship. Since 2008, we have served more than 5,000 students.
